Marine Uguen

Sentinels of Change Alliance Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate Change and Nearshore Biodiversity

Marine (she/her) is a coastal ecologist and ecotoxicologist with a deep interest in marine invertebrates. Her research explores how  stressors—particularly pollutants—affect marine organisms, using multi-stressor approaches that incorporate factors such as predation and heat stress. She is especially interested in behavioural responses as early and sensitive indicators of organismal health. As part of the Sentinels of Change project, Marine will investigate how pollutants in the Salish Sea impact the early life stages of Dungeness crab. Based at UBC Vancouver, she is co-advised by Chris Harley, Alyssa Gehman, and Heather Earle.
